Each month, we will be peering into the nuances of each Major Arcana card in the Tarot deck and delve into its interpretation in that cycle.
Each Major Arcana card in the Tarot, typifies a particular Solar Cycle, a Theme and a Numerological insight. Major Arcana cards are 22 in number and typify each of the 22 Hebrew letters that are described poetically in Psalm 119 of the Holy Bible. Each Hebrew letter is more than a letter or even a word. - Rather it is a conceptual representation of how the Higher Self is expressed in our earthbound existence.
THE STAR
The Solar period when the Sun is in Aquarius occurs between January 20th and February 18th and is represented by THE STAR. This card radiates the essence of our gifts as they are presented to others. This is a card of wonder and aspiration - the recognition of all possibilities with awe for the Source. The esoteric title of this card is the Daughter of the Firmament. On the Tree of Life, it is the 28th Path of Wisdom called Tzaddi and the part of the journey that connects Netzach (Victory) to Yesod (The Foundation) and celebrates the Natural Intelligence of Creation itself.
In Numerology, THE STAR is the 17th Key and shares a kinship with the 8th Key, STRENGTH. Most decks depict STRENGTH as a feminine figure securely handling a male lion. Gentle but firm strength (Yin) and the passion of dominion (Yang) blend in supernal power. If your birthday or your current numerological year add up to 8 (1+7=8), your passions needs focus and balance to be realized. The 8's in the pips or Minor Arcana express the challenges you will face to honor both THE STAR and your inner STRENGTH. If THE STAR or STRENGTH present in a spread with accompanying 8's, they illuminate how confidence is achieved by the application of direct Wisdom.
THE MOON
As we move toward the Vernal Equinox, we pass through the next Solar period of Pisces which occurs from February 19th and March 20th. The Major Arcana card that reflects this cycle is THE MOON. The principle edified by THE MOON is one of discernment between that which is authentic to our being and that which is projected to move through our daily life. Subconscious motivators and social/cultural bodies often modify out individual truth. Out of duty, we wear the cloak that pleases or promotes very temporary goals. The esoteric title for this card is listed at The Ruler of Flux and Reflux - but also as The Child of the Sons of the Mighty. On the Tree of Life it is the 29th Path or the Path of Corporeal Intelligence. This Path connects Netzach (Victory) and Malkuth (The Kingdom). It reflects the dichotomy of a mortal body and an Eternal Spirit and how we define our true parentage. It is important to remember that the only choice of consequence we make when asleep is that to relinquish control as we lay down the dreams and illusions of the day. Where are we asleep in our lives and what may we awaken to find? Victory in a larger sense is within our Inner Kingdom and assured.
In Numerology, THE MOON is the 18th Key and shares a kinship with the 9th Key of THE HERMIT, revealing the subtleties of reflection, introspection and meditation. The qualities of our true nature are revealed when we confront our Eternal Essence. If your birthday or your current numerological year adds up to 9 (1+8=9), developing a Higher Philosophy and dispelling old illusions may be where you need to be! The true nature of the World both around you and within you will be a true source of fascination. The 9's in the Pips or Minor Arcana illuminate and reflect both the Higher and Lower Self as you approach the unknown and The Infinite. If THE MOON or THE HERMIT card is present in a spread with accompanying 9's they reveal how we can gain happiness and strength by eliminating the self-cruelty of temporary judgment.
Are the cycles you experience self-perpetuating? Are old responses still present subconsciously to current circumstances even though your introspection has shown that they no longer serve the true you? Remember, we have shown the Moon to have many phases. Allow your inner reflections to become part of your real World through the passage of time. Your inner Truth is so much more comforting than your old illusions.
